I Am A Mad Dog Biting Myself For Sympathy Title

Approfondiamo: Silice si, silice no?

I decided to do an in-depth post on silica , I have noticed lately reading around on the web that there really is lots and lots confusion on the matter. What has the silica with the makeup? The silica is used in many cosmetic products, the HD face powders, minerals, very common toothpastes and deodorants. It 's easy to panic when you think well of themselves and their own health but in some cases crying wolf wolf only creates more confusion. So let's start from the beginning (which, summarizing the basic steps of what I read after the various documents):

What is silica?
Silicon dioxide, or silica SiO 2 , is an inert mineral that occurs naturally in quartz. (Source NM).
because it is considered harmful?
Because if inhaled can cause the onset of severe lung disease (eg silicosis).
Because the silica is still used cosmetics?
silica as a finished product does not create problems for people who handle and use cosmetics that contain it. E 'but the fact remains that during the extraction and handling the "professionals in the field" or better to say the workers are more exposed to this kind of disease.
Why biodizionario marks the silica with the yellow ball (biodizionario.it> silica> 21 results, some of which are marked in yellow) ?
The biodizionario also analyzes the source of raw materials, a bit 'as it happens for the soap of Aleppo and the "Laurus nobilis, although it a natural plant substance and is still considered toxic if used in large percentages, then referred to as red regardless.
We are protected by law?
The answer is yes. We are protected by law in the first place by the European law on cosmetics that are very restrictive, considering that each time you enter a new cosmetics on the market must notify the Ministry of Health that specifies all of its features. Only after a cosmetic begins its ok to be sold.
(Of course this is different for cosmetics that come from outside Europe, beware!)
